What is Mithila Jodi?
Mithila Jodi is a matrimonial platform for the Mithila (Maithili) community of India. It brings matchmaking, marriage biodata, wedding invitations, astrology and Mithila culture together in one place, rooted in the community’s values.
What is gotra, and why does it matter in marriage?
Gotra is a patrilineal lineage traced to a common Vedic ancestor, and many Hindu and Mithila families traditionally avoid same-gotra marriage. It is commonly asked during matrimonial matching.

What are maternal gotra and mool in Mithila?
Maternal gotra is the gotra of the mother's side, and mool refers to a family's ancestral origin or native place in Mithila tradition. Both are often considered during matrimonial matching.

How do I create an account?
Enter your Indian mobile number, verify the one-time password (OTP) sent to you, and accept the Terms and Privacy Policy. Your account and profile are free.
What is a marriage biodata?
A marriage biodata is a structured profile with your personal, family, and cultural details (gotra, kul, mool, gram). On Mithila Jodi you can create one in English, Hindi, Maithili, or Sanskrit and download it as a PDF.
Who can see my profile?
You choose one of three levels. Public means it may appear on our homepage and the Mithila matrimonial profiles page, which do not require an account — your name, photo and community details are visible there, while your date of birth, contact details and address are never included. Members only means it appears in search for signed-in members and nowhere public. Private means it is hidden entirely. You can change this at any time when editing your profile.
How does Mithila matrimonial matching work?
Search covers the fields Maithil families actually ask about — gotra, mool, gram, native district and current city — alongside age, education, diet and how soon each family is looking to marry. Every result carries a match score that lists the reasons behind it, and a sagotra match is flagged as something to check rather than quietly scored down. If nothing matches your filters exactly, the search widens one filter at a time and tells you which.
Can I share my matrimonial profile with another family?
Yes. From your profile you can create a shareable link and send it on WhatsApp. Whoever opens it sees your profile without creating an account, and you decide section by section what the link shows — contact details are off unless you include them. Each link expires on a date you choose and you can turn it off at any time.
Can I create a Mithila wedding invitation card?
Yes, free and without logging in. The invitation card maker offers Madhubani and Mithila-inspired designs; add your wedding details and download or share the card straight to WhatsApp.
Does it cost anything?
No. Mithila Jodi is currently free for all members. Creating an account, building a profile, generating a biodata PDF, searching, sending and accepting interests, and messaging your matches are all included at no cost.

What is a Mithila Jodi Digital Profile?
It is an online matrimonial profile you share with a link. It shows your details, photos and Mithila roots — gotra, maternal gotra, mool and native village — on a page designed for phones, so a family can open it straight from WhatsApp without an account.
How is a Digital Profile different from a marriage biodata?
A marriage biodata is a document — a PDF you download, print or forward. A Digital Profile is a living page: it always shows your latest details, you choose what it shows, you can make the link expire or turn it off, and you can see when it has been opened. Many families use both.
Can I share my Digital Profile on WhatsApp?
Yes. Your dashboard has a Share on WhatsApp button with a message you can edit, and a Copy Link button for anywhere else. The message contains only your link — no details from your profile.
Can I control what information people see?
Yes. Under “What people can see” you switch each section on or off — photos, about you, education, career, location, family, gotra, maternal gotra, mool, native village, lifestyle, what you are looking for and horoscope. Your contact details are off unless you turn them on.
Can I make my profile link expire?
Yes. Pick the date it stops working, change it later, or choose no expiry. After the date, anyone opening the link sees that it has expired.
Can I deactivate my shared profile link?
Yes. Turn the link off and it stops working immediately, everywhere it has been forwarded. When you want to share again you make a new link; the old one stays off.
Can I see how many times my profile was opened?
Yes. Your dashboard shows total opens, unique visitors and the date it was last opened, with a short list of recent activity. Your own visits and WhatsApp’s link previews are not counted, and no one’s identity, IP address or location is recorded.
Do I need to create a separate marriage biodata?
No. The Digital Profile is built from your Mithila Jodi profile. If your family also wants a printable document, the free marriage biodata maker makes one in Maithili, Hindi, English or Sanskrit.
Is the Digital Profile free?
Yes. Creating a Mithila Jodi account, building your profile and sharing your Digital Profile are free.
Who can view my Digital Profile?
Only people who have your link. It is not listed in search results — the page is kept out of Google — and you can turn the link off at any time. Because links can be forwarded, choose what it shows with that in mind.
Can I update my Digital Profile after sharing it?
Yes. The link always shows your current profile, so edits appear for everyone who already has it. You can also change what the link shows at any time without sending a new one.
